Five Reasons to Start Using Instagram Reels Today!

New-ish and exciting from the world of Instagram, the launch of Instagram Reels! We say new-ish because Reels was launched in August of 2020 and after three months of it being live on the platform, some users might just be getting to know the term.

From Instagram directly:
“Reels invites you to create fun videos to share with your friends or anyone on Instagram. Record and edit 15-second multi-clip videos with audio, effects, and new creative tools. You can share reels with your followers on Feed, and, if you have a public account, make them available to the wider Instagram community through a new space in Explore. Reels in Explore offers anyone the chance to become a creator on Instagram and reach new audiences on a global stage.”

Here are our five reasons why we think you should explore Reels and start creating content with it:

1. Reach a new audience

Because Reels is a recent update to the Instagram platform, Instagram rewards users that actually use their new programs early on. Granted, Reels has been live for three months now, but there is so much growth still going on for brands and accounts that create Reels on a weekly basis. Because Instagram wants users to create Reels, when a user does, it rewards the user by showing that Reel to a new audience, resulting in new followers and higher engagement.

2. Engagement growth

Engagement, that keyword we all try so hard to grow. And like mentioned in the first reason we love Reels, engagement is amazing when you post reels! Because you’ll reach a new audience, you’ll be able to tap into their engagement. 

3. Push your creativity

Whenever a new platform launches, we are tasked with learning a new skill set to be able to work with said platform. Pushing ourselves out of our comfort zones is key for growth, not only on social but as a human being. Creating Reels, a video and music based platform within Instagram, will push you to step outside of your regular posting and think creatively about ways to engage your audience in a way that seems genuine and organic, but still keeping up with the trends.

4. Get rewarded by Instagram

This is worth repeating - when the platform sees you using the new items they roll out, they will reward you. How? With audience reach, new likes, new followers, and more visibility. It’s as simple as that. Instagram wants you to use Reels because they worked hard on it, so they will promote and reward those that put their hard work to use!

5. Develop video skills

We aren’t all born videographers nor do we all have those skills, but the great thing about 2020 (if anything) is that education and information is available at our fingertips and there are so many great Youtube tutorials that can help you with everything and anything. We could link to them, but a quick search and you’ll have access to thousands of video tutorials not only on Reels, but on how to film with your phone, how to use light to film videos, how to edit videos, and so much more.
